took these tonight with my FZ20. i'm still amazed at the way this camera pulls out the colors. compared to my 30D, though, these images needed a LOT more cleaning up to make them "presentable".... :G and i think i may have gotten some dust inside my FZ20 somehow... there were large specks scattered all over the image, the kind i'd expect if i had dust on the sensor of my DSLR... anyway, here's what sunset looked likethis eveningover the lake near my house. this was one of the first shots i took, at about 8:30 PM...

got this one about 5 minutes later...

and this after the sun had completely gone down. the fellow sitting on the pier staring at the water seems to add a pensive, almost melancholy feel to the image...

Nice set Squirl, I had a heart stopping moment once with my Fuji S7000, thinking I somehow got dust inside after viewing some pics I took. Most had spots in the same spot, uhoh:shock:. Went back and looked, and it was just the front of the lens that was really dirty. Big sigh of relief! The spots in your pics look similar, worth a check.

Hi squirll! Great series, I thought I had dust in my old Oly 740, turned out it was not dust. I must have taken one to many shots directly into the sun before it was low enough on the horizon to do no damage. I now have four circular spots that form a square in everyone of my photos. I thought what are the odds of having four specks of dust perfectly lined up like this, I am sure I damaged the sensor with the sun. I have since replaced that Oly and still love taking sunsets but I wait till the sun is right on the horizon.

All of these are spectacular. But the man on the dock adds immeasuably to the appeal of the last one.

Very nice work.

Nice series Squirl. The ole' FZ still performs admirably. I'm still amazed at the sharpness of the photos the FZ's turn out. Sorry to hear about your dust problem....Don.

In the first image the dagger-like cloud, whose tip seems to have melted by the sun, contributes to the image nearly as much as the old man does to the third image. Neverthless, it is the the third one which stands out, IMO.
