Hi everyone, I've been very nervous to post any of my shots here due to the extremely high quality of photos I've seen. But seeing as I'm 6 weeks into my photography class... I've decided it's time to hear some opininons. What does everyone think??

Hi Sabes, welcome to the forum. Don't be nervous, we don't bite and we're all here to learn :-)

That's a very fine sunset pic. A couple of minor things would make it even better: watch out for the artifacts that occur in the image due to over-compressing your jpg image for web posting (eg: around the tops of the trees). Try saving your original as a higher quality jpg image next time (but still below the 250 Kb forum limit). The other thing is the noise in the dark trees areas - my camera does this too. Try darkening up those areas so they become almost entirely black sillouettes and the noise will disappear (see my edit).

Cheers,
Ollie

HI Ollie, thanks for the invite and the welcome. Appreciate the feedback. I checked my original image and the "artifacts" thankfully aren't there. After making my adjustments to the RAW image, I saved it as an uncompressed TIFF file.
