Getting ready for another camping trip in August. We camp where there are no roads nearby, no town, no hectic pace . . . just wilderness . . .

The canoe waiting for a paddle . . .

Ahh, Wells Gray..Such a beautiful and remote place...Was up there many yrs ago with a group of people...Had two very strange experiences, both relating to sound...The first was the total lack of sound when we stopped our activities...I had never been in a place of such total silence...I was awestruck. Not the faintest sounds of civilization at all..It was how it must have been in the American West back in Kit Carson's time....

The other odd occurence was an animal scream of incredible power and volumne...We heard it several times one night and it was chilling, echoing off the ridgetops...The animal was some distance away, yet his wail was of such power as to send chills thru us all.....Several months ago, a woman who was on that trip sent me a link to a recording....It is a exact duplication of what we heard that night.....Here it is, ( turn your volumne up and imagine hearing this at Wells Gray at 2am).....www.angelfire.com/wa/sasquatchsearch/images/jeez.wav
