The moon in my area was beautiful last night.

The shot below was NOT edited in photoshop except for a little bit of levels adjustment

The picture was taken witha 70-300mm lens

The moon was shot at 300mm with a piece of black cardboard in front of the lens to block out the tree. After the moon was shot the cardboard was put in front of the lens, and zoomed out to 70mm and the focus was readjusted to the tree, then the cardboard was moved to block out just the moon.

The shot was a BULB exposure. It took 27 attempts to finally get this shot

You did a very nice job on this one and going to have to try the cardboard idea sometime, how big was it and was it a gloss or flat piece. Once again...good shot

Thanks for your response, I would have cheated and used a layer...lol..I'm sure you know this but have you tried closing lense cap and taking a picture with cap on then making a difference layer over the image with that lense cap shot? I did that for a lightning shot and wow did that cut down on the noise (pixelation), not that yours has noise, just thought I'd share a lil trick I learned here.:-)
