Taken September last year, again with the S10. The full size image can be found in my inbox at http://www.pbase.com/barthold/inbox

Batrhold,
Good shot but I wondered about the fall colors - is this bait and switch for the Colorado Tourist board. I sort of expected some more colorfull trees or are you too far south to really have the splendid fall colors I see in the calendars on my wall?

This was taken along highway 14, on the way to Cameron Pass. My guess is that this was at about 8500 foot. All that grows here are pine trees, aspens and rocks :-) The aspen turn yellow, and get you these kind of colors. To see a whole sea of them is quite a sight. However, it is nothing like say fall at the east coast. The land here is pretty bare and rugged. What did you see on your calendar?

Barthold,

My apologies if I sounded unduly critical about the lack of color.
The pics on my wall calendar show the Great Smokies and New Hampshire.

It's funny when I was in the Chicago region for almost 5 years I didn't even note the fall colors. A few years ago I visited the East (old timer's disease, I can't even remember which state) and saw the end of the fall colors and was very impressed.

The only thing we have that even approaches fall here in the islands is the various trees that drop a carpet of flowers like th shot below:

or burst forth with bushels of red flowers.

Selvin,

No offense taken! Different landscapes have different colors. I love the red flowers on those trees. Now that I won't see at home
