Hi, as most of you will have noticed my exciting news (for me at least) in getting engaged this past week, I thought I would put up a few shots from today.
I only got the SX1 out of the bag as I thought the 5D mkII would be a bit OTT with so many people around. I did however put the 580EX on top to give a better balance although I would have liked some more time to manually set things up by it was cold by this time and my fiancee didn't have a jacket..... I was in enough trouble as it was wanting photos so didn't want to push my lucky any more. |

Excellent shots Mark, as usual. The top left is my favorite out of the bunch.

Very nice shots of your lovely bride-to-be. Really shows how just adding an external flash to even a P&S can really make a world of difference, especially with such strong backlighting. My pick is probably the first one.
Have fun! -Dustin |

Thanks all.
Dustin, it's very true, we need light especially in these situations and for quite simple shots as these it's not really the lens or the sensor but just a good balance of fill and background. Graham, thanks for your congratulations, I'm obviously very happy to have a fiancee and model all rolled into one tiny package. My fave is also the first so glad we all agree LOL. |

Thanks Dave. We haven't set a date yet but hopefully it will be before the main heat of next summer and as for the photographer, we are having a studio session before our engagement party this Saturday and I like the guys work. I think for the real thing one of my friends will cover the ceremony and party and we will again just use him for the studio shots pre event (here it is common to do so which mean the B&G see each other prior to the wedding, but means hair/makeup is still looking good). Also weddings are often later in the day so light is going for outdoor shots all the time.
