Was goofing round with my new ST-E2 and flashes today... I rediscovered my 50mm 1.4... I haven't used it since I stopped shotting indoor sports a few years ago... hmmm.. guess I'll be using this lens more often! LOL!

That's a terrific shot.

I really like the 50mm f1.4 for portrait work. It's really sharp, gives nice color and definition, and tremendous flexibility for lighting. The only negatives are shallow DOF and the need to get close enough at times to spook a reluctant subject.

@musket - I'm really having fun experimenting with the ST-E2 and my 430EX/420EX. For this shot they were both placed in front of my daughter (one a little to the left and one a little to the right) and bounced off the ceiling... I was sitting off to the side... I've been incredible pleased with the results...

@Paul - Yeah, for my daughter i did need to get fairly close... so the 85mm 1.8 is just got bumped up to the top of my "wish list". LOL! I'm a lazy guy at heart so 99.9% of the time i reach for one of my zoom lenses... but this shot convinced me I need to start relying less on zooms...

oh... and i know about reluctant subjects! LOL!
