Trying out my cheapo $60 USD 50mm f1.8 OM film lens and adapter on a new e-510. I had heard that it was not easy to get a shallow DOF and good bokeh with a 4/3 system but this, for my untrained eyes is good enough for head and shoulder portrait work. The built in body image stabilization seemed to work fairly well with the legacy glass.

here's another where I just missed focus but couldn't get them to stand any longer before getting to their Easter candy. I'm not real adept yet at portrait work and need to learn a lot about body positioning, etc. I'm generally more comfortable with landscape andarchitecture shots.

Like the pose in both pictures, makes them look like the perfect little angels. There seems to be a color cast to the overall picture, may want to work on the white balance to correct the tint. As for the 50mm Oly lens, it's a very (IMO) good lens, one I use to shoot many weddings with back when I useOM-1 MD.

I had good luck with all the Oly lenses I had back then and if you can find a good deal on one great. Though the new Oly glass is much sharper and clearer (IMO) than the older lenses, so if you have the two lens set that comes in the kit (14-40 & 40-150mm) you should be pretty well set. Well unless you find a good deal on a 400mm lens, that would give you 800mm on the oly 510.
