My daughter ask me to take a picture she could send to out-of-town relatives with her Christmas cards. Iplayed with the lights for about an hour trying different angles for the lights and different settings on my camera. (Pan FZ7) This one came out the best of the series. I'm open to comments on how to improve my portraits. After the holidays I hope to invest in1-2 better lights, maybe with umbrellas.

This seems like a very nice portrait. If I were going to get picky, maybe a little more light on the right side of the face (left side of the photo) might be better. The shadows are a little dark.

For what it's worth. For a Christmas picture I would personally have preferred if she was looking a tad more in my direction. The off to the side pose I think shows a more reflective mood.

Also, I would have had her lean a bit more towards the viewer. IMHO.

The lighting can perhaps be fixed using most photo editors and may not require adding more studio lights.
