Default Road Trip

My granddaughter and I took a trip across the southwest to fetch grandma. These are some of the photo's I brought home.
1. Ice cream break in Pine Valley CA.

2. Sand Dunes run break.

3. Portrait shot at our destination.

3. A trip to the local zoo was a must.

4. New pet otter from the zoo.

5. What could be better then relaxing in bed with a big messy cookie and a book that reads itself to you after a long day at the zoo?

6. Reaction to first Twinkie.

7. On the way back we stopped to visit great grandma.

8. And on our last day driving back home we stopped in the Imperial Desert for a dip in a hot spring, 109*. Photo by grandma.

Great series Mike! Grandkids keep us young, I believe. It's good to see the wonderful relationship you have with her.

On a more serious note, did she like the twinkie? It was hard to tell from her expression.

Agree with you on that Robert, just trying to keep up with her is more excersize then most get. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

As for the Twinkie, she didn't like it but there were a lot of cookies for her to choose from so that may be why.

Thanks for the reply.
You know, I don't remember our kids being this much fun.

Maybe because we had 'em 24/7, unlike the grands, who you can "give back" at the end of the day... not to mention, we have more time to spend now than we did.

My wife, her mother, and Bella left Sunday morning for Orlando for ten days. Busch Gardens, Disney, and Sea World. I stayed home with King.

Default Twinkie?

Great set of photos.

Can you please explain what a Twinkie is, it is not something we have in England or if we do it has a different name.

Cheers

Don

Twinkies are creme filled cakes, and are very yummy.

Some like them fried....

I'm sure you have something similar there. Here, we either love them or hate them...

Sounds like some peace and quiet for the next week. I had a few quiet weeks before we went to fetch grandma. I have to agree with you on the give em back part. As much as I love em it's nice to see them go at the end of the day.

Wow, I would have thought for sure that there would be twinkies everywhere in the world and everyone would know what a twinkie was. Please excuse my arrogance.
Maybe I'm just getting old?
It's the thing on her plate, a small angel food cake filled with cream. The best example of junk food I can think of.

Default Twinkies

Thanks for the explanation. The fried version sounds like a heart attack on a stick!

I'm not sure if you have Mars bars in the States (they are a chocolate covered fudge and caramel bar) but there was a craze in Scotland a few years ago to have them dipped in batter and deep fried, similar to the fish in traditional fish & chips (that would be fish & fries to you).

Cheers
