Default Central California Coast

My wife and I recently celebrated her birthday with a weekend getaway to Morro Bay California. Of course any getaway also means photo opps.

We took our bikes and rode along Embarcadero street from the campground to the rock and discover everything in between.

Another in front of the rock while displaying a message that you'll have to decipher.

I'm going to take my wife up there soon. Where did you stay (if you liked it)?

Nice photos Mike, especially the last one. Gorgeous! The sunset was also nice Haha! You have to love getaways. My wife and I, since our nest is mostly empty, (except for my GSD and Bella's hamster, who lives with us), get away fairly often. I would love California, judging from your pics over the last umpteen years. Maybe someday...It's on my bucket list.

I'm glad to see my wife isn't the only grandma that can't get away from the grandkids. Ain't facetime wonderful? That's why I have an android phone lol.

Walter we stayed at the Blue Sail Inn (west building). I don't think you can beat the view from the balcony. It overlooks Embarcadero street and the bay. Caution, the seagulls can leave quite a mess out on the balcony so look out. The rooms are OK, nothing to brag about IMO. It is a clean place and theres a great restaurant (Dorns) right next door and the (Galley) another great restaurant just across Embarcadero. You don't need to drive from that location if you plan on staying around the shops and restaurants. Everything is within a few blocks from there. I recommend bringing or renting bicycles. It's a nice ride out to the rock where the otters and surfers hang out. I have one photo of the room. I'll post it below.

Thanks Robert. I agree the getaways are nice. We need to get away more often. Maybe after retirement. Well you do have a lot of beach out there. But the mountains, deserts, yeah the diversity is great. Within a couple of hours drive you can be in any of the environments. I have a few friends who have surfed in the morning and snow skied in the afternoon. Im too lazy to do it but I have had the opportunity.
And you can let your wife know that there is Hangouts, Skype, Viber, and Tango just to name a few alternatives to FaceTime for android. So she can see the kids while your away.

All American Grandma in the room.
