Santa bought me some monolights for christmasMy hubby and I have been testing them out. I really liked this photo and would love to here your input on it.
I will say this.....we accidently had the ISO setting on 1600:sad:So they are a little grainy.
Thanks!

You have had an axcellent model...she is natural...

I like all of thephotos in global specially the first one.

The second one is maybe a little with strange cut of her legs but still it's very good.

Regards Zak

I really like number 3 - she looks like a 50's movie star... very glamorous and elegant! you are very lucky to have patient children - my boy is only 6 months - I am the impatient one!!!!!

Pretty good. The face of the girl in lap is way overexposed. The second shot is a little hot on the right side (her left). The last needed a hair light, or if you had one, it needed to be adjusted to keep the top of the head from vanishing into the bg.

I see by the exif you were at F20, which would explain why the images are a bit soft. Closing the aperture does give more DOF and increased sharpness but at some point starts to degrade the quality which is what happened here. Next time use 100 ISO, 250 shutter, which should be the sync speed for that camera, and around f8 to F11. Adjust your lights output to get the correct exposure.

Poses are great though. I expect the next back will be excellent with the correct light and camera settings.

You will wake up tomorrow and they will be 8 and 6 (soon to be 7) don't be in a rush and take as many pics as you can... I have looked through my photo albums and you can tell (even if it is months) that there are noticable gaps in my girls lives.

Paula -

Those are wonderful pictures. Each has its own special look and feeling. The high ISO didn't bother me one bit.

Thanks for the replys!! We have enjoyed photographing our kids since birth. You are so right that they change so quickly. Seems like yesterday they were babies!!

Happy New Year!
