just bought nikon coolpix 7900 and would like to buy a 1gb sd card any suggestions

Usually the manual has some recommendations.

Also the camera will come with a small card also.


Oh ok.... the camera comes with 14 MB internal memory and no card.

It depends on whether you're taking continuous shots. A higher speed card is nice, but not necessary. I have a couple of regular speed cards and one Sandisk Ultra II card. The speed on the Ultra II is slightly noticable for my 4 Mp camera when compared to my regular cards when I do continuous shooting. In other shooting, it's not noticable.

Well, forget what I said and read the review.

The Extreme III wasn't needed. But it's a matter of what you need and what you can afford. Smaller cards are very cheap so you can experiment a little.

I bought a 1GB EP Memory card from eCost.com. The price was $75 with a $30 rebate through the end of July. Their part number is E74060 Next best price I have seen locally is $79 for a Lexar 1GB from Sam's Club.
