Under $100, huh? How about a Transcend 400x 16GB Card for $62.99 delivered...

Hi JimC

Thanks for taking the time to help me.

Am i limiting myself too much by keeping it under $ 100 ?

with an open budget...what do you suggest?

I don't think your XTi is going to see any noticable improvement using the latest 533x or 600x UDMA CF cards, since I don't think it can take advantage of faster UDMA mode 5 or 6 transfers.

So, I doubt spending any more money on a faster card than that Transcend 400x card is going to help much more. You'll tend to get diminishing returns with faster CF cards, unless you have a newer camera model with faster interface speeds supporting UDMA mode 5 or 6.

You can get an CF to SDHC adapter for about $20 from Ebay and get a 16gb SDHC (class 10) for about $25. The grand total will be less than buying a 16gb CF card. I did just that for my Sony A200 and has been working out really well.
