Compact Flash Cards

I"m buying Sandisk compact flash cards for a Canon G5. What is the difference between regular compact flash and ultra? What is the benefit of one over the other?

One is warrenty. I believe the Ultra has a longer (life time?) warrenty.

The other is speed. The Ultra is considerably faster than the "regular" The G5 might not use all the speed the Ultra is capable of, but I bet the regular one will slow it down. If the difference isn't much, I'd get the Ultra. If it was alot and you are price sensitive, you might consider Transcend and a few other brands which are fairly good and cheaper than the Ultra, but several times faster than the regular SanDisk. Search the forum for Transcend (or is it transcent?) and you'll find other brands mentioned in those threads.

it is true that the ultra warranty is lifetime but access to the company is strictly through email(i have searched their site for a customer svc #). this can be as time consuming as snailmail and then getting exactly what the problem is through to them can be just as painful.

both delkin and lexar are easily accesable in the USA via a phone and if they are not available at that point leave your number the will call you back. i have had to return 2 lexar cards for firmware update that was a 3 day turn around coast to coast on them for 1 GB pro cards and 512MB delkin card dead was a bit longer with me paying the freight one way and they DHL shipped it back.

there is a distinct advantage to talking to someone directly to me.
