I recently just purchased a Z7112IS...so far I am very happy. But I keep getting "Memory card needs Formatted". Nver been a big deal until today. I took some pictures last night at my sons 3rd birthday and now I cannot get to them to download them.

1st question: Why do I keep getting this error?

2nd question: Is there still a way to retreive them?

Thanks, Marty

You can try http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

It has usually worked well for me.

Step 1: download using a chip reader just like the Radio Shack chip reader you showed me.

Step2: to recover the photos from your son's 3rd birthday party, you may indeed have to use a recovery program like TCav pointed you toward.

Step 3: you have to either format and get that SD card you are having problems with straighten out, or get rid of it.

Step 4: you have to understand that it is not usually good enough to just delete photos. It is much more healthy to reformat the chip before using it again.

Step 5: let us know how things are working out for you. We want to know that you recovered thos birthday photos, and that you are back to working smothly with you Kodak Z-712 camera.
