So i am new and i am filling my sd card pretty fast, i've downloaded all the pictures from it to my computer. Do i delete all the pictures thru the camera delete function, or do i format it everytime?
It is better to format. If you are in a hurry and your camera takes a long time to format there isn’t anything wrong with deleting, but you should format when you can.
I learned the lesson responding to a Minolta CF card speed test site. Everyone with the same card I was using had faster cycle times. I reread the instructions to format the card before running the test and my times came down in line with the others.
I have SD and normally delete the pictures in the card reader. No problems so far. Only two cards with problems at about the same time - something for which I blame the camera because the cards are different in size, different age and have very different usage patterns. When that happened I DID format in the camera to make sure they didn't get the wrong format.
