What do you think of this:

B&H has a stand-alone CD burner that has an 8-way card reader built in. Anyone have any experience with this type of device? On a trip you could burn 2 copies andkeep them in different places and CDs in wallets can take quite a beating.

Alera Digital Photo Copy Cruiser, Stand Alone, Data Storage Device $180

I am going on a trip soon and need to pick up something for image storage. With CDs there is the 800mb limitation but as of now Ionly have one 512 and one 256 card. Also this device does support disk spanning for larger transfers. I don't know if it verifies the data reliably though - sometimes a problem with optical media.

That Nixvue HD type looks good too, comes in several sizes,I'm undecided.

I shoot raw with my DRebel so I see no need for image preview, it couldn't read the raw files anyhow. Some software can view the THM file which is actually a thumbnail-sized JPG but all that would prove is that you successfully transferred the thumbnails.

I am looking for solid gear at a reasonable price rather than top performance. I would rather more budget for the next camera -20D perhaps.

appreciate your thoughts

To compactdrive, I was justconvinced to get a PD7X...awaiting for the delivery now. From the product specs it seems to be a winning product. Well done!

Hope what I will receive is going to meet my expectation.
