Do I have a dead memory card or is there a different problem

I got a 4GB Micro SD card for my LG Dare and it doesn't have anything on it yet but when its in my Dare and I go to the "memory card information" it says there is 0 space available and 0 space filled. Should I return it or can it be fixed?

I tried to do that like 5 times through the phone (literally) but I don't really know what that means exactly, could you explain?

Formatting the card prepares it to function with the operating system utilized by a particular device. Sometimes, when a card is formatted in another device, or in a computer, the new device cannot write to it, and may not even recognize it.

When you formatted it in the phone, did you get an indication that the format was accepted?
