Does anybody if any third party company offers firmware upgrades for the ephoto 1280? I would love to use smartmedia cards with more than 8mb storage.

Do not think you are going to find. Olympus offers an upgrade for some of their better cams of that era from 8 - 32 meg. This is a $69.95 mail it in, not a firmware flash. Agfa has not really been a big player since that time as Olympus has. The industry can never figure out the memory needs of the future. The late 80's brought us extended and expanded memory for computers as the designers never thought we would need over 1 meg of memory total, this was way to get the computers to use more.

That's too bad! I guess I'll have to start looking for a bunch of 8mb smartmedia cards before they become impossible to get.

I used to have a Agfa e1280(2 years ago),I spoke to Agfa tech support about higher sized cards,8 meg is abit limited!!!,they said that was as high as the camera would take, they also said that would be no firmware updates.
