Hi,
This summer I will be atop Pikes Peak, some 14,000 feet up. I just wanted to make sure that I am correct that I can bring my Microdrive with me, it just won't work- I don't want to damage it. Thanks, Jeremy |

IBM stated the limit was 10,000 feet. The microdrive uses air as a lubricant - at high altitude there is less air so less lubrication. It will "work" at that altitude, but not for long. You can put the drive into a compete vacumn so long as you don't spin it up.

The card would probably not even be in my camera at the time- just in the camera bag.

Pity the 602 doesn't copy in-cam, across media slots when you're back down to 'safe altitude' I believe the MD heads are 'parked' when not spun, so as Bill said there should be no prob. I don't even think the MD is spun when you select SM in the menu.
