I'm looking to buy a 4 gb SD card for my new camera (canon s5). Do I need to buy a fast SD card or can I get by with a class 2? I don't plan on using the burst mode, but will be taking videos.

Also, will getting an SD reader make it alot faster to transfer files to my computer, or is this just a convience feature so you don't have toconnect your camera.

If you do a low level format of the card immediately prior to recording videos, then a Class 2 card should be fine. If you have other photos or videos on the card prior to recording videos, the fragmentation may slow things down, so to pretect yourself, you might want a faster card.

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered a class 4 card, it wasn't that much more expensive.

An 8 GB SDHC cost less than $65 nowadays... a good brand is Transcend Class 6 with lifetime warranty.

SanDisk is overrated and not necessarily a reliable product. .. it is just the name recognition ... like Kleenex... or a politician riding on his father/relative name
