I'm looking to buy a digital camera and the one I am considering uses SD cards. There are different quality SD cards out there. Seems like the major difference is speed. How important is it? The higher speed cards generally seem to cost about twice as much for the same amount of memory. I would assume the high speed would only really be important if I'm snapping lots of photos in rapid succession or maybe using the video option? Are there other significant differences in quality for the SD cards other than speed? Thanks.

When I was buying my Canon S2 IS, there was a guy at the counter buying the same camera - he claimed there WAS a big difference between the "standard" and Ultra cards, especially when taking videos - any opinions on this?

I think you want to check the camera you're buying. Some cameras are not able to take advantage of higher speed cards( Kodak is one.even the newer models) Check the manufacturers website or email them...they usually respond pretty quick.
