SD Speed

I have an old 8GB SD I tested with write speed of 8.2MB/s and read speed of 19MB/s. The card will be use for the Sony A55. 85% of the time will be single frame shot, 10% multi frame and 5% video. Will I need a faster card?

Your speed measurements are probably peak speeds. What matters for continuous shooting and video is sustained write speed. The SD Card Speed Classes are for minimum sustained write speeds, and for video you should have at least a Class 6 card. There is no way to determine, from the test results you've included, whether or not your card is up to recording video, but I suspect it's not.

You could always just try, but format the card first.

Hi tCav
Do you think this card can handle HD video, it shows 16MB/s write and 20MB/s read.

I think it would work well for video and large bursts as well.
