I am pre-ordering one of the Pentax K10D DSLR that is supposed to support the SDHC with continuous JPEG only limited by card size. On the assumption this is true I tend to use the continuous shooting for sports events where I could possibly say with baseball cover from the swing of the bat till the runner stops and then pick the ones I want.

So what size of SDHC is available, seeing up to 4 and 8GB, any idea what the fastest in these ranges would be?

4GB is becomming common, 8GB is in pre production. With the new technology, 150x cards (especially in the 1GB and 2GB sizes) are pretty much standard and you can find them on sale with out a premium. I would suspect that this time next year 8's should be as available as the 4's are today.

I have seen 1GB on sale (80x) for $9.99 (name brands) and I just picked up a 2GB (150x) for $19.99. The 4's can be had for $80 (no sales yet) and have not seen a price on the 8's yet.

I get about 650 jpg images on a 2GB with my 6MP K100D - a 10MP K10D will get - what around 300 to 400 depending on quality (upper end jpg). That is pretty decent. The 4's today will be going for half price in a year. For one 4GB you can pick up 4 - 2GB cards.

Just swap cards every inning - 400+ per inning would be pretty good coverage.
