What would happenif I took the memory card that hasphotos on it out of one camera and put it in another camera? Would I be able to take pictures with the second camera? Would the picturesalready on there be lost?

Different camera models typically use different directory (folder) structures to store the images in.

So, they probably would not conflict with each other.

But, I wouldn't risk it.

I'm even more careful when I use a memory card. I always format a memory card prior to every use with a camera's menus for format.

That insures that the card is just the way a camera expects it, since it's performing the format, and insures that I always start out with a fresh File Allocation Table.

Is there a reason you need to use the same card in more than one camera model, while leaving the images on it?

Memory Cards are relatively inexpensive anymore. I'd suggest a separate card, if you really need to use both cameras at the same time and leave photos from both on their memory cards.
