Hi,
I was just wondering: would an 80x CF card be fast enough for a Canon XTi (400D). And approximately how many pictures could be captured in a single burst?

Thanks!

Rob Galbraith's web site is usually a good place to look for speed tests with some of the popular DSLR models. It doesn't look like he's tested any cards in the new XTi yet, though. Here are his tests for the XT:

But, from the few tests I've found for the XTi, it doesn't appear that Canon increased write speed to media (one reviewer was getting around 5MB/Second to Lexar 133x cards and Sandisk Extreme III cards with the XTi).

So, my guess is that you're not going to see any appreciable difference between a good 80x card (i.e., Lexar 80x Pro), versus a much faster 133x card. That's only a guess though.

As for photos in a row, that depends on your image quality settings. Shooting Large/Fine JPEG images, the camera looks like it can do around 3 frame per second for around 30 frames before it slows down any.
