Because I just don't know, and also b/c my new Canon A550 requires an SD card, should any of these card manufacturers (or, marketers) be avoided:

All of those links are from Newegg.com (for convenience). Looks like the Kingston has lots of good reviews there......

To my knowledge, http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/mul...e.asp?cid=6007contains the most comprehensive assembly of empherical performance tests fo CF and SD cards. I limit my choices to the products that do well there.

I must be missing something here: is there a link to a table or "results" page contained in the Galbraith CF/SD Performance Database page that I am overlooking? The page has lots of great info. but I wanted to see how one brand SD card compared to another - should I be looking at another part of the Galbraith site?

Thank you for the link, btw.:G

The Galbraith site lists the speed of different CF and SD Cards as listed in different cameras. When you select a camera from the list at the top, it lists the differnet CF/SD cards tested in that camera. Some of the cameras only take CF cards, some camera only take SD cards, and some cameras take both.

Though the cameras listed are only Canon and Nikon, the consistantly good performing cardsappear at the top of the list for each brand (of camera and card)so it is a good indication of which cards will perform well in your camera, what ever brand (camera or card)it may be.

You may also notice that, for the most part, the good perfoming brands of CF cards are also the good performing brands of SD cards.

OK, now I understand. Looks like the SanDisk Extreme III is one of the best SD cards. Amazon merchant eMartBuy has the 1 GB for $24.50 + $8 S&H.

Corsair should be avoided. Just read the reviews on NewEgg.

On this site you can see some pictures on how a Corsair card may look like after a few weeks:

I'm using a TwinMOS 2GB 150X card now which works pretty well but my next one will be from SanDisk. Now that they dropped their prices there's really no good reason not to buy their cards :-)

Thanx, Twister - that was a good link! I will definitely steer clear of Corsair. Nice to see that SanDisk is cutting prices by 30 - 40%. Regrettably, the lower prices are due to themtrimming 10 percent of its workforce.

Just FYI but steer clear of ANY memory cards sold by anyone on eBay - just a word to the wise. Buy from known online vendors and avoid eBay sellers - too many ripoffs and scams there these days.

Has anyone tried the "HOUSE" brand cards from Microcenter?
They have 2G CF cards at $28.00 (80X).
I would figure in my Fuji 9100 they would be fine as the camera isn't all that fast anyway.
