Default Smart Media Cards

Hello there. Can you help me telling me what is the maximum capacity the smart media cards have reached and what brands are there at the stores? Thanks

...and you might find them hard to find in stores, as the SmartMedia format has been replaced by xD cards. It's been my experience is that one brand is about as good as another. The only difference is that the Olympus cards support their proprietary panorama feature, but you pay more for them (other cards can be made to do the same thing, if you know how). You can still find all brands of SmartMedia cards on closeouts and eBay with no problem, though.

Anyone know the shelf life of the smart media cards? I mean if we are speculating that they will only be around for another 2 to 5 years, I better stock up on a couple of them, since I like my camera and plan on holding on to it for a long time since it does everything I need a digi cam to do.

without smashing them about ................which is a long time. in excess of 10 yrs(technically forever depending on a few variables like nuclear war and such).also on the cycles you put on them. believe me you'll find a new camera you'll fall in love with well before then. remember don't bend them.

Trust me when I say that theres many cameras that Im in love (or is that lust) with right now, but Im such a cheap bastard that I find it difficult spending the $599 to $2900.00 that the ones I like are going for.

Thanks for the info.
