I have a 2GB mini SD card with SD adapter sitting around. Will this work OK in my digital camera (Nikon 40D)?

Off the top of my head:

Mini-SD card adapters are designed for card readers.

Card readers leave most of the card exposed, or in this case, the card and the adapter. So you can remove an adapter easily.

Cameras almost entirely enclose the card. Sothey would almost entirely enclosethe card and the adapter as well.

What do you do if the adapter gets stuck?

I can't say for sure for the D 40 but the Mini Sd adaptor effectively turns it into a mini SD card same dimensions everything. I doubt it would be as speedy as Extreme III card but the same as a standard spec card.My go everywhere camera is a Casio Z750 and I use this with a Micro SD 2GB card and SD adaptor without any problems. the reason I do this is because my Smartphone takes Micro SD so I can crop resize, adjust WB colouretc then e-mail or MMSthem straight from my handset.
