I just purchased at Bestbuy 40.00 usc a sdhc 4 gig and , a card reader/writer, togehter?

My pc does notrecognise the sdhc alone, but with the reader/writer , it does. it is a usb 2.0 interface? thinking my reader of Hp was already that?

so I am updated now and happy, but I wonder if this is the way they're going again. a forced way of: if your camera sd card crashs and no moresd cardsare available, or sdhccameras are the upgrade of today?

My olympus is on its last outdated card :G

The devices you use SDHC in (including card readers) must support the SDHC standard. This is different than CompactFlash (where the camera needed to have the ability to use a 32 bit FAT for capacities greater than 2GB, but the card reader was reliant on the operating system for FAT32 support).

In the case of SDHC, even if the operating system supports FAT32, the card reader must specifically support SDHC (more than just the file system has changed between SD and SDHC).

Most digital cameras and card readers do not yet support SDHC.
