I am relatively new to digital cameras andrecently ordered the Canon Powershot S3 IS. I'm looking for recommendations onthe best memory card to buy. I'd like to get at least one of the largest capacity that it will take. Thank you in advance!

This model will use SDHC cards, and you can find them up to 8GB now (although I don't think Canon has tested anything over 2GB, I've seen users mention that 8GB SDHC cards will work in it.

Sandisk Extreme IIIs are a good choice. But, they're a bit pricey for the largest cards right now.

I see that Newegg.com has a Class 6 Transcend 8GB SDHC card for $77.49 plus shipping now. So, you may want to give it a try if you really want a card that large (you did say the largest it would take and 8GB is about all you'll find on the dealer shelves for now). I've seen a couple of different S3 IS owners report using this card in this camera model:
