Very unlikely.

Manufacturers of smaller cameras are using Secure Digital now because of lower power requirements and smaller size.

But, you don't have a problem in that area with a larger camera and battery, and because CompactFlash is physically larger, you can get more memory density easier.

For example, I'm now using a Transcend 133x 16GB CompactFlash Card with a Sony DSLR-A700

I only paid $119.99 for mine (but, the price is up to $124.99 right now).

A number of recently announced DSLR models are staying with CompactFlash (Nikon D300, Nikon D3 and more).

VERY VERY Unlikely. In fact one recent camera (can't remember which one) had 2 CF slots. I doubt until they get SD cards up to 16GB that CF card production will slow down.

I think it is very safe to say that SD (SDHC0 and CF cards will both be around for many many many many years to come. Look what happened to smart media cards and the early sony memory stick formats, CF cards are still be using in a lot of cameras.

You can already get a 16GB SD Card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...cure%2bDigital

But, I know of one manufacturer shipping a 32GB CF Card now. lol

Absolutely not!

CF cards are widely used in all kinds of devices, not just digital cameras.

Cisco routers (among others)boot from CF cards.

CompactFlash is not just for flash memory. Many companies make CF cards to add GPS to PocketPCs (see Pharos or Garmin).

CF Cards used to be the only way to add WiFi or Bluetooth to PDAs, and are still popular options to upgrade PDAs.

Some even make CF cards that turn PocketPCs into digital cameras.

Here's a CF Card that can turn your Pocket PC into a Television!

Take a look at what these people are doing with CF Cards!

CF Cards are here to stay. If anything, they'll be around when xD and MemorySticks are just a memory.

My current digital camera still has an xD slot but I think it is only a matter of time before fuji starts to use SD cards as a replacement.... I haven't seen anyone selling xD cards over 2GB so I guess their is just not a market for them as fewer and fewer new cameras are using them. Fuiji did clamed a year or so ago that 4GB and 8GB xD cards were possible. in fact I don't use the xD slot in my camera for capture, I have a card loaded but for all but test propouses (had an issue with2 of the cards i owed and this took the form of sevewral weeks of testig but when push came to shove i always stay way from them)I have been using CF cards.
