Will the hp 850 accept sd cards greater then 128 mb? Any recomendations?

I have firmware 1.01.05.

The hp 850 manual and web site lists 128mb as its tested compatibility. These are getting hard to find.

thanks

I tested a 512mb secure digital card, taking about 200 pictures. It worked fine. I did not try formatting the card.

Hi,
I've been using 1 G/Byte cards with the 850 for a couple

of years with no problems ... I have firmware 1.01.05.

also, I just checked with a 2 G/Byte card ... it

recognises that OK, 969 pictures. ... Hope this helps ... Jack

Hello: I agree with jachol, the HP850 works OK with 1GB SD on all fashion micro, mini and normal SD. With 2GB microSD with adapter I had one trouble, I put a Kingston one and after 500 pictures the card becomes unreadeable, I recover with cardrecovery and I see all pictures, these flash had a bad block, I put it on a PDA and works OK until I arive to the bad block, I park the bad file and it works. Now I had a brand new microSD from SANDISK and I try to use it, or better fill it >960 pictures, the camera sees the card. SANDISK SDHC are not seen at all on the camera, NO CARD FOUND, forget about 4GB and more capacity. Regards:

I shot with a 2.1mp HP 635 for a year using 512mb cards:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/hp635.html

I recall mine only had a "tested to 128mb" too. Yours is higher end, but appears to be one year older. Still I think it would recognise the full 512mb. I believe thecase of compatibility isn't so much that the card won't work, it's that the camera won't recognise theentire storage space. (The new SDHC cards excepted).

From mine I got some really great shots, and have even enlarged some blackand whitesto 8X12withvery minimal grain etc. I'm sure your's will be stellar by comparison. Congrat's on the cam!

Default Maybe a bit dated now...

My 850 is still going strong ( hope I haven't put the kiss of death on it by saying that). There's probably others still out there in use, so it may be of interest that I find mine recognises a 4 G/Byte Transcend SD card will give 1900 + pics at full resolution & top quality. I still have the same firmware as listed earlier in this thread. ... Jack.
