Considering the source of this report is the "SD Card Association" and the "report" says absolutely nothing about other card formats, I would be rather suspicious of this report. It could be real, or it could be company funded speculation. It sure reads more like a press release than a industry report.

to am extent it is a PR press release. but if you look at memory types as a product used in all memory using products including cameras SD is becoming the highest volume used in more devices today. the SD is an open standard like CF. almost every palm/pocket pc type has a SD slot. the newer smaller digital cameras that do not use a propriatary type memory MS xD which are company based like sony and fuji/olympus. MP3 playwers and other data record playback type devices use SD. look even sandisk has marketed SD based WiFi card. no other form factor except for CF has the same versatility today.
