My husband recently bought a Canon A580 . He also bought a 4 mg PNY SD card. I have a card reader so when I tried to upload the images he took, I thought it would be the same as my camera. System crashed several times. Finally had to use the camera to upload. Is there a problem with these high capacity cards and card readers?
Also, I heard that the recording time for pix is longer with higher capacity cards. Is that true?
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure your Card Reader is SDHC compatible?

Most 4 gig SD cards are High Capacity and need newer card readers.

Just talked to Office Max guy and he said the readers don't care about the size - it's cameras that may not be able to take it. Hadn't realized it was the new "high capacity" - hadn't really looked.

Not sure I understand what your OfficeMax salesman was trying to say.

Readers do care about the size if they areolder. For example my 4 year old Sandisk reader cannot support SDHC. The newer Sandisk Imagemate 12 in 1 readers can.

Older cameras and older card readers cannot use SDHC cards.

How old is your card reader? I don't remember 4gb SDHC cards showing upbefore 2007.
