That's not bad for a 4GB SDHC card, even though it's a Class 2 card. But, it looks like that listing is showing $12.99 for one now.

Memory cards have sure come down a lot over the past year or so. For example, you can get a fast Class 6 Transcend including a card reader now for $12.99 at newegg.com

Of course, shipping costs also come into the equation. :-)

And.... I remember the days when 128MB used to close to $80 (or was it $90). I actually broke down and bought two of them in 2003 when I got my Olympus camera with 10x zoom. Does any still make 128MB cards anymore or smart medai cards for that matter......

Last Christmas I was able to get my brother a 2GB SD card for $9. How prices have come down.......

I paid $289.11 plus shipping for my first 128MB Card (a Lexar 8x CompactFlash Card) purchased in May 2000. Here's the invoice. :-)

I knew the guy who was the offical fire photographer on duty on 9-11 (9-11-01) and ended up at the Pentagon shooting with an Olympus UZ-2100 camera. He had 3x 64MB cards on him when he arrived and at the time 64MB cards were considered big cards. He ended up having to buy another $800 worth of smart media cards to get him through the mess rember the days before laptops, external backup devices etc. You just had to shoot to memory cards and then slowly load them to the PC and burn to a CD and start the process all over again with the next memory card (1 GB total hard drive space). Luckily he was paid back for all the memory cards and batteries he bought that day.

Now a days $800 would buy me at least 16 16GB cards.

I recently saw Staples here selling class 4 SDHC cards for $9.
