Default SD or MMC -- Fastest Card ?

I'm looking to buy a Pentax Optio 33 WR which supports both Secure Digital and Multimedia Cards. Of course, my current Olympus is SmartMedia, so I get to buy new storage.

Which format is faster SD or MMC? Are some makes/models or card faster, and, if so, what's your favorite?

Many Thanks!

The latest SD cards are way faster than any MMC type cards. This is often why new cameras say they only work with SD and not MMC type cards - even though they look physically identical on the outside.

Lexar SD cards are 32x speed rated whereas the original Sandisk (red and blue label) are probably around 4x speed. Also the new Transcend brand and others are much faster than last year's SD cards.

Default Is SD compatible with MMC card

I have a Fuji Finepix F601 and it supports MMC card - I wanted to use SD card because I have already have 2 x 128Mb. Does the F601 supports SD card?

Please advice - many thanks.

The Fuji F601 uses SmartMedia type cards up to 128MB.
