Default Dog Bites SDHC card - HELP!

So I get a new camera and go on a week's long trip to N. California. Great views & photos or so I thought. My mother in-law's GD dog sees the card on a table and gives a chew! It's not punctured but the case is opening a bit at one end. It doesn't read. Does anyone have any idea of someone who can possibly dissasemble this thing to see it there's any hope?

Bob.

By "doesn't read", does anything happen at all if you try it in a card reader (errors, etc.)?

If it's recognized at all, you may be able to get the photos from it using recovery software.

Ontrack does recovery. But, their current price from what I can see of the online service form is $995 per media device:

It causes errors when inserted in the camera. When inserted in a card reader on my PC it goes into a non-stop read function with the light flashing forever. So it's not doing well. Yes I used on-track for a drive crash several years ago. It was very expensive. At $1K I'm not going to to do that. I'm thinking that possibly the contacts have lost a connection with the chip on one or more of them?

So maybe a techie type has an idea about opening up the case and doing potential surgery???

OK, I found this place that can recover physically damaged cards:

Anyone ever used them?

Nope. But, if you decide to try them, please let us know how it works out.

Well I'm trying out the guys in Fairfield, CT. Germany is a bit far though they sound like they're more experienced. Fingers crossed.

OnTrack has been doing this longer than anybody. In fact, lots of places that say they do it actually just send stuff to OnTrack.

But, they want almost $1K for their services (per media device). ;-)

I guess it depends on what the images are worth to you.

Well no luck on the recovery. The memory chip was cracked in half by the dogs teeth. So I have no report except that they turned it around fast. Next, to shoot the dog ...
