Default sony p72 and lexar memory

hi can i use a lexar 256mb memory stick pro with magicgate
in my sony p 72.
sorry if this sounds dumb.
but i emailed sony and they said it was not compatable they said that only sony memory sticks are compatable.
also would memory stick pro give me any benefits in my camera

Per the specs of the camera, it looks like Memory Stick Pro will work. The memory stick can be made by either Sony, Lexar, and/or Sandisk. They are all compatable, as the others have to follow the Sony format.

I am not sure if you will see any speed benifits with it, as with my F717 the Pro cards are just a hair faster than regular ones.

Just to let you know, my cards are not Sony ones. I use both Lexar and Sandisk, they are usually less money than Sony. Lexar and Sandisk both make a nice card.
