Default Did I get the wrong kind of card??

I ordered a memory card for my new Canon A3100 IS but I may have gotten the wrong kind. the card I got today is a 4GB SDHC HD video flash card (also says 60 minutes in it). can I use this to take photos??

Assuming your camera takes SDHC cards then yes, it will work just fine. It's a bit small for these days though - I use a minimum of 8gb and generally 16gb or 32gb. I presume they call it "HD Video" because it's fast enough to cope with HD (though at 4gb it wouldn't hold much HD video). What class is it? I will have a number inside a large C - probably 4, 6 or 10.

this card is a class 6. the camera will work with SD and SDHC as well as a few other similar cards.

Then it'll work just fine. They were obviously just referring to the most demanding task you could do with that card.
