Default Here's a tricky one (for me at least)

Recently I have scanned and copied and moved various photo's of my Daughter taken over many years into a folder in My Pics.
It's for her birthday party where they will be shown on a TV screen. The problem I have is that I scanned them as I found them in albums and packets, so they are not in chronological order.
So I copied them into a new folder in the correct order then downloaded that folder onto a SD card. Here is my problem ,when I look at the SD card it shows them in the order I scanned them not my new order . Secondly I tried click and drag to get them in my chronologal order and still it put them into the original scanned order on the SD card.
.I certainly dont want to scan them all again.
I guess it's using the date or file numbers to sort them itself
Is there a way round this does anyone know?
Thanks.

If you are using Windows, you should be able to open the folder with Windows Explorer and select how you want the files sorted. Along the top, there is a bar with the various file attributes (name, date, size, tags, etc.) There will also be an arrow next to the attribute which is selected, pointing up or down. (for sorting in ascending or descending order) Click on the appropriate tab to change the sort. If the file names are not in order, you can add what you need to get them arranged, or add tags, and sort that way.

How about renaming the files so they appear in the order you want them?

VTphotog,
I dont have window explorer only internet explorer so I guess I would have to download it.

T.Cav,
When ever I have gone to rename anything I get a warning box about the file becoming unusable which has put me off using it, but I'll give it a go.

Photo 5, Thats what I did when scanning, trouble was the order I scanned them in, because I scanned them as we found them, and I also wanted them to stay with their albums etc.

Thanks for the replies,

Well, if you rename the filename extension, then, yes, you can make the file unuseable, but you can rename it back.

What you should e doing is renaming the file name and not the extension (the part that starts with the . and ends with .jpg or .tiff etc.......) If you do that then you shouldn't get the warning message.

Thanks for the replies,
If you are running Windows, Windows Explorer is there under Accessories.
It is (to me) the most useful part of the OS, so I keep it pinned to my toolbar. With it, you can edit file names within the folders, without changing extensions. For example, if your files are called Scan001.jpg, etc., but are not in the correct order, you can change by just adding a character or characters before the file name, and have 001Scan001.jpg, 002Scan023.jpg, or something similar so the files are in the order you want.
