Default Speed of Sandisk 256mb vs Lexar 256mb 4x

Sandisk does not tell you on there retail packages of their speed & Lexar does, I am trying to compare these 2 brands of Compact Flash cards, is the Lexar faster & if so how much faster , what is the X rating speed of the Sandisk (note this is NOT the Ultra).

Question #2 I have a Canon A70, would there be any speed inprovement for writing to these cards & which one/

The regular straight up SanDisk is, as far as I know 1x (150K per second write speed.) It is very slow. Some refer to it as the "standard" SanDisk. I do not know if SanDisk made a card without a fancy/silly name (i.e. just "SanDisk XXXMB") that was not 1x... but I could be wrong there.

The Lexar 4x is not very fast by modern standards either. For an A70, I would consider getting something in the 8x to 12x-16x range. 16 might be pushing it. It doesn't hurt you to get something faster, you just wont take advantage of the extra speed it has.

I would bet the A70 would be faster with the 4x card.

previous to the red/blue models eric is correct about the speed of the sandisks. the red/blue sandisk and the 4x lexar are close enough to be a non issue.

i have a few of those older units. i don't consider them viable products at all so they are used as wedges when needed.

Good to know about those 4x "standard" sandisk models. Thanks for the info.
