I'm seriously considering the new Pentax Optio 43WR. To get the most out of Movie Mode (640x480, 30fps) it requires high-speed SD memory. Who makes the best/fastest SD memory? Thx!...

Toshiba, Panasonic and Sandisk jointly developed Secure Digital. If you buy a card from a different manufacturer, chances are, they are using components from the "big 3".

In 256mb and larger sizes, the Panasonic's are the fastest (10mb/second). Simpletech's cards in 256mb and 512mb size are also rated at 10mb/second (they appear to be using Panasonic Components). Note that cards smaller than 256mb are not as fast from any manufacturer.

Sandisk's standard cards in larger sizes are the slowest (by far). Sandisk does have a new line of cards out now (Ultra II), rated at 9mb/second, though.

Lexar's cards are a "mixed bag" (some fast, some not). Some of their earlier 256mb cards appear to be using Sandisk Components (based on the "style codes" on the back of their cards). However, their newer 32x and 64x cards seem to be using better (i.e., probably Panasonic) components.
