What are the differences between those 3 versions of the microdrive? Any reason I shouldn't get the 41b or 42b? I have a bid group of snipes set up on several (planning to buy one) and I will be using the one I get to shoot movies at 640x480 fine 30fps on my Canon PowerShot S1 IS.

I do know not to touch the 44C. I've checked with the sellers whose items I'm bidding on prior to setting it up, and they all say 43B, 42B, or 41B, and a few also advertise it in their item description or give a picture of it.

One of the auctions ends in about 45 minutes and is a 41B model. Is there any reason I should unsnipe it?

FYI - In Q3 2004 Seagate will intro a 5GB microdrive for about $150.

I know about that one. I'd like something I can use over July 4th weekend.

Let's see.... Q3 starts 07-01-2004, right? Would I be able to buy one by then, or at the latest 07-02 maybe?

I'm not surprised.

Do you think $250 including shipping is a decent price for the 4GB microdrive from Hitachi?

btw I was slightly outbid on that first auction I had mentioned earlier, but there are still several more coming up....

Oh, and what happened to the squirrel?

btw the pic in my avatar was taken with an A70 about a year ago.

Also how do I get something like this into my S1 IS or at least use this or something similar in a portable photo storage device with an LCD screen for less than 1/4 the price of the hard disk? (btw this drive is possibly failing so I may need to send it in for warranty repair/replacement, or splurge on a replacement drive)

The numbers refer to the last 3 digits of the 4G Microdrive model numbers. What it means is all digit series prior to 44C are compatible with digital cameras (ie 41C, 42B, and 43B are all usable), while the 44C are not:

BTW, In my opinion the $150 price tag is for the 2.5G Seagate drive. I believe the 5G will be priced somewhat higher...

link is broken...

Anyone have any suggestions on how to educate the seller with this item? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT I emailed him asking what it was and he told me it was a 44C. There had been a buy-it-now price of $200 but someone put in a bid and took off the buy-it-now.

So, is the 41B ok? If 44c is not good then I would think that 43c,43b,42c,42b,41b, 41c etc. ar OK Am I right?

OK I'll answer my own question.

The 41B series works perfectly fine in my Pentax *ist D.
