The best IMHO is Photo Rescue - it's easy to use and has never failed me yet. You should be OK if you haven't stored any new images since the format. See my whole list of utilitiy applications here:

Photo Rescue is at the very top of the list. Good luck!

I noticed that the photo rescue says it can recover from a hard drive but when I tried I was unable to do so. Do you have any tips or am I SOL? It pulled deleted pics from the SD card right away. Nice to know in the future. I had posted some pics to what I thought was a new file and deleted them from the card. When I did that and opened the file I realized that I already had a file by that name and it just showed the old pics. Unfortunately I lost all the new ones and have taken too many on the SD card to recover them that way.

Uh, you do have to buy it -- what you downloaded is a trial version to show what it CAN recover before you spend your money. Well worth it in my book, I bought a copy of it years ago!

OK. I bought it and I was able to rescue a few Tiff files which was very cool. I just don't seem to be able to access my C drive for some stupidly deleted files. Do you think this is possible?
