I'm actually helping my visiting sister with this problem. She leaves tomorrow to return home from vacation, so I would greatly appreciate any help. She has a Kodak Easy Share DX6490with a SD 64mb memory card. After nearly filling the card she got a message that reads the card needs formatting. This has happened to her once before and being a newbie she formatted the card and lost all her pictures.

It's very important to her not to lose these pictures. These are graduation pictures and vacation pictures. I read a prior thread where people advised a gentleman with a similar problem to get a new card. This is only a temporary solution that solves half the problem. The most important problem to solve is getting her vacation and gradutation pictures off of the card.

I thought maybe a card reader might help thinking the promblem lied with the camera. This didn't solve the problem as the card reader also requested the card be formatted.

The card is made by SanDisk and is 64mb. SD

Okay, never mind. I found the post of Steve listing the photo rescue software. Thanks, Steve.
