I am thinking about buying the Sony DSC-W1camera and it says in order to record in movie mode you need to have the memory stick pro rather than the normal memory sticks. But I also heard that with the pro they have the magicgate technology and you cant print them at savon, etc because of the magicgate it will not read the stick. I would print the pics at home but I do not have a good photo printer and do not feel like spending money on one when I could just get them at savon or someplace else. I would like to just buy the pro to keep movies and pictures but if I wanted to print the pics I will not be able to. Please help.

No you don't need a memory stick pro to do movie mode on the Sony W1. Youcan record at 16 fps which is standard mode in movies with a regular memory stick. If however you want the higher quality (fine) movie which is 30 fps, then you need a memory stick pro.

So if you're okay with only 16 fps video then a regular memory stick works.

If you want high quality video at 30 fps, you need a memory stick pro.
