:?

I will be getting a Sony DSC-W1 for Christmas and since it comes with an itty bitty memory stick, I will be getting a higher MB stick immediatly. I was looking in WalMart tonight and I saw an offbrand. It was either Sandisk or Lexar....can't remember. It was 512mb for $60. Would it be alright to use an offbrand memory stick?? I will be using the camera for snaps of the kids and possibly short video clips (not very often on the video).

Thanks!

Sherry

Memory by others is a quite safe thing...power adapters is another issue...on that, I would be likely to stay with OEM...

Look at prices for memory online also...use something like Pricegrabber...I got a SD card from NewEgg at price that beat local stores by fair amount...and shipping was free...

Lexar & Sandisk are two of the most trusted names in the digital flash memory arena. I personally use them both in my Sony P150 and Canon 10D. Never had any problems with either brand.
