i was wondering if the faster compact flash II works on the Canon A series cameras, and if it get a noticable difference in speed?

Well, first of all, the A series models don't work with CompactFlash Type II (these arethicker cards, and the card slot is not designed to support them).

Second of all, CompactFlash Type II is not necessarily faster (this would depend on the speed of the card).

As far as speed, it's unlikely that any of the A series models would take advantage of the fastest available cards. But, it wouldn't hurt to get a fast card (making sure it was CompactFlash Type I), since you'd get faster transfers of your photos if using a card reader.
